Positive Grid have announced the launch of Spark 2, the next generation of their popular smart guitar practice amplifier and Bluetooth speaker. The company will unveil the new product in a live premiere event featuring renowned guitarist Nuno Bettencourt on August 1 at 8 a.m. PT / 11:00 a.m. ET.
The Spark 2 offers many updates: A new amp modeling engine and increased processing power deliver 50 watts of output, while Positive Grid’s Sonic IQ technology provides detailed and dynamic sound. New high-definition amp models and speaker design further refine sonic performance.
Another addition is the built-in Groove Looper, offering a vast library of drum tracks for creating layered loops and jam sessions. The Spark app continues to offer AI-powered features like Spark AI for tone exploration and Smart Jam for generating backing tracks. For learning and practice, Auto Chords analyzes streamed songs and displays chords in real-time. Up to eight customizable presets can be stored directly on the amp.
Designed for portability, Spark 2 includes an optional rechargeable battery providing up to 12 hours of playtime. Bluetooth connectivity allows for music streaming and jamming, while additional features include a headphone jack, stereo line outs, and a USB-C port for use as an audio interface.
The Spark 2 will be available in Pearl or Black finishes and will retail for $299 US. A special pre-order period will offer early bird pricing, and existing Spark 40 owners will be eligible for exclusive upgrade pricing.
