Watch New 30-Minute Interview with Oasis Songwriter Noel Gallagher About the Birth of the Band’s Debut ‘Definitely Maybe’

To promote the 30th Anniversary reissue of Oasis’ iconic debut album Definitely Maybe, guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher sat down with British journalist John Robb for an in-depth interview. The candid conversation, filmed at Sifters Records — where the Gallagher brothers first bought their albums — dives deep into the making of Definitely Maybe and its enduring impact on British youth culture.

The deluxe reissue, out on August 30th, features previously unheard demos, outtakes, and alternative versions from the original recording sessions. In the interview, Noel reflects on the challenges faced during the recording process, the band’s meteoric rise to fame, and the lasting appeal of Oasis.

Definitely Maybe was a landmark release in the history of British music, becoming the fastest-selling debut album in UK history. The album’s success was fueled by its anthemic tracks and relatable lyrics that resonated with a generation of young people.

The new deluxe edition includes an unreleased demo of “Sad Song,” featuring Liam Gallagher’s vocals. This alternative version offers fans a glimpse into the creative process behind one of the album’s most beloved tracks.

On August 27, Oasis announced they would reform next October for a 14-date tour of the UK and Ireland, which includes four concerts at Wembley Stadium and another four in the band’s hometown of Manchester. Oasis are expected to announce the world tour, Oasis World Live ’25, in the days ahead.

While the band hinted at a reunion, many people were surprised by the announcement since the two brothers have spent so much time over the past 15 years sparring in the press. Who says money can’t buy you (brotherly) love?
