Jimmy Page and Gibson Release Limited Editions of 1964 SJ-200

Share

Gibson have partnered with Jimmy Page to create two limited-edition acoustic guitars based on his mid-1960s SJ-200.

The Jimmy Page 1964 SJ-200 and 1964 SJ-200 Collector’s Edition are handcrafted instruments built by the Gibson Custom Shop in Bozeman, Montana. Both models feature a Super Jumbo body constructed with highly flamed AAA maple for the back and sides, and AAA Sitka spruce for the top. The body is bound with multi-ply binding on both the top and back.

The neck is a three-piece highly flamed maple design with a comfortable round profile. It features a bound rosewood fretboard with 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl Graduated Crown inlays. The bridge system consists of a 60s-style solid rosewood Moustache bridge plate adorned with mother-of-pearl hourglass and teardrop inlays. This is paired with a gold Tune-O-Matic bridge with nylon saddles. The headstock is bound and equipped with gold Kluson Waffleback tuners with Keystone buttons.

The standard Jimmy Page 1964 SJ-200 (100 units) features a Cherry Tea Sunburst finish that has been artfully aged by Gibson’s Murphy Lab to resemble Page’s original instrument. It includes a Gibson Custom hardshell case with Jimmy’s Zoso logo, a certificate of authenticity, and a vintage-style strap.

The limited-edition Jimmy Page 1964 SJ-200 Collector’s Edition (50 units) boasts the same build specifications but with a few additional features. Each guitar is hand-signed by Jimmy Page on the back of the headstock. These instruments were also personally played by Page himself in various tunings, ensuring they capture the unique sonic characteristics he achieved with his original guitar.

The Collector’s Edition comes with a special hardshell case featuring Jimmy’s Zoso logo, an extra Tune-O-Matic bridge with gold-plated brass saddles, a Zoso Certificate of Authenticity booklet, a custom pickholder containing a pick used by Jimmy Page, and a Gibson “The Garden” vintage-style strap. Additionally, each Collector’s Edition guitar comes with a handcrafted wooden guitar stand.

Pricing for the limited-edition guitars was not announced. Both models will be available for purchase through authorized Gibson dealers and online at Gibson.com.
