Fans of professional skateboarding currently suffering an Olympic hangover will be happy to know that Green Day have teamed up with a group of skaters for an 11-minute video that blends high-energy skate action with the band’s pop-punk tunes.
The video, titled “Monsters & Saviors,” includes the songs “Longview,” “American Idiot,” and “Bobby Sox,” from Green Day’s iconic albums Dookie and American Idiot. The project was created to promote Green Day’s “The Saviors Tour.” Directed by cinematographer Russell Houghten, the short film is a celebration of the band’s deep ties to skateboarding culture, a scene it has influenced for decades.
Skateboarders in the video include Nyjah Huston, Jake Yanko, and Giovanni Vianna, among others, and the vid includes street skating, pool riding, and mega ramp action.
