Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett recently joined host Mark Agnesi for a new, revealing episode of Gibson TV’s “The Collection.” During the nearly two-hour-long video, Hammett offered an exclusive look at his extensive guitar collection, discussed his musical influences, and told stories about his adventures as a guitar hero.
“Kirk’s episode of ‘The Collection’ is my favorite to date,” says Agnesi, Director of Brand Experience at Gibson. “He was a huge influence on me as a young player, so to see these guitars was incredible.”
Hammett, who has been with Metallica since 1983, showed off a variety of instruments during the interview, including vintage Les Pauls, a Korina Flying V prototype, and a 1964 J-180 Everly Brothers acoustic guitar.
In 2025, Gibson and ‘The Collection’ will release the coffee table book “The Collection: Kirk Hammett,” which will delve deeper into the stories behind his instruments. The book follows last year’s release of “The Collection: Slash.”
